PEP – Pulsed Energy Projectile.
A non-lethal directed energy weapon, able to deter, or disable people by an induced pulse of plasma energy at the target, resulting in a so-called ‘flash-bang’ effect that startles the person and then affects the nerve sensors by means of kinetic energy.
Whatever is struck first will be vapourised, thus heating the surrounding air so much that it explodes, and thereby creating a shock wave at that point.
This weapon is in the last stage of development and is expected to be operational by 2006, truck mounted, it can be used on snipers, rioters and individuals, fired from a distance, this means minimum harm to those in control of the weapon.
This is no secret, there is plenty of information about this, the question is, where will it be used and on whom and for what reason ?

WITH American military casualties climbing, the US Army is preparing to send 18 remote-controlled robotic warriors to fight in Iraq in March or April.

Made by a small Massachusetts company, the SWORDS, short for Special Weapons Observation Reconnaissance Detection Systems, will be the first armed robotic vehicles to see combat, years ahead of the larger Future Combat System vehicles currently under development by big defence contractors such as Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics Corp.

When Robert Moran drove back to his law offices in Rome, N.Y., after a plane trip to Arizona in July 2003, he had no idea that a silent stowaway was aboard his vehicle: a secret GPS bug implanted without a court order by state police.
Police suspected the lawyer of ties to a local Hells Angels Motorcycle Club that was selling methamphetamine, and they feared undercover officers would not be able to infiltrate the notoriously tight-knit group, which has hazing rituals that involve criminal activities. So investigators stuck a GPS, or Global Positioning System, bug on Moran’s car, watched his movements, and arrested him on drug charges a month later.

However, there is one organization that was not mentioned in the above list, a group that has been around for over 300 years. A group that has as much honor and principle as the Mafia, and is just as strong, if not stronger.

The group is yakuza.

US President George W. Bush’s bold, uncompromising leadership and clear-cut election victory made him Time magazine’s Person of the Year for 2004, its managing editor said today.

Time chose Mr Bush “for sticking to his guns (literally and figuratively), for reshaping the rules of politics to fit his 10-gallon-hat leadership style and for persuading a majority of voters this time around that he deserved to be in the White House for another four years,” Jim Kelly wrote in the magazine.
Mr Bush was also Time’s choice to appear on the cover in 2000 after winning the presidential election despite losing the popular vote.

Internet surveillance has been with since the earliest days of the medium, when the internet was known as ARPANet, it was well known by those users that most if not all correspondence was being watched.
Now with Echelon, the USA’s NSA electronic monitoring system, developed with the help of Britian, Australia, New Zealand and Canada, snooping on email messages and the like is rampant.
It has now become a network of computers around the globe, intercepting fax, email and satellite communications and scanning them with it’s dictionary of keywords. These keywords are provided by all countries and if a match is found, the message is passed on to the Government concerned.

So, how do we, as law abiding citizens, protect our privacy on the internet ?
Well, the answer is Encryption… but not just any encryption, it needs to be a certain type to be of any value.
This so-called Strong Encryption is by no means unbreakable, no code or encryption is. It’s all relative to the amount of time and effort required to break it, so the ’stronger’ it is the harder it is to break.
As a result, the NSA have requested the US Congress to outlaw Strong Encryption.
Is it any wonder ?
