Men At Work & The Kookarurra

Friday, February 5th, 2010

Famous Aussie pop band Men At Work have been fighting a battle with Larrikin Records over a riff in their song ‘Down Under’.
It’s alleged the riff played by a flute is a rip off of the song ‘Kookaburra Sits In The Old Gum Tree’, written by Marion Sinclair 75 years ago.
And certainly, if you hear the two pieces together, they do sound rather similar.
The question is… does this story stink of opportunism on the lawyers part… (more…)

Wikipedia – Truth or Dare ?

Friday, August 17th, 2007

Is everything we read on the net true ? Of course not.. but there are some sites that should be, or should they ? :

The CIA has been accused of editing entries on the interactive encyclopedia Wikipedia.

Wikipedia Scanner, an online tool, allegedly shows that workers on the agency’s computers edited the page of Iran’s president, the BBC reported.

It also purportedly shows that the Vatican has edited entries about Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams and “massaged” entries on several Catholic Saints.

It is believed the Vatican removed a link to newspaper stories alleging Mr Adams’s fingerprints and handprints were found on a car used during a double murder in 1971. (more…)

Identity checks to buy SIM card

Sunday, July 22nd, 2007

More Big Brother – when will these idiots learn (well, never according to the New World Order Concept) when will they learn that restricting the lives of ordinary citizens is NOT the answer, this proposal makes no sense, like gun laws, all it will do is force the criminals to get their sim cards another way … how ? simple…one way is by bashing and robbing the ordinary citizen in the street and taking his card….. wake up to reality …….

BUYING a mobile phone Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card in Australia could soon require the same identity checks as opening a bank account.

One hundred points of identification, including a passport or birth certificate, would be required for a SIM card under the police plan, to counter terrorism and crack down on organised crime. (more…)
